Former superintendent David Cash joins full-time faculty

The retired leader of Santa Barbara Unified will also chair EDL program

David Cash EdD 鈥08 has been hired as a 海角论坛 executive-in-residence.

Cash retired in 2016 as the superintendent of the Santa Barbara Unified School District where he served for the previous five years. He previously served as superintendent of the Clovis Unified School District, Claremont Unified School District and the Buellton Union School District. Cash worked as an assistant superintendent, elementary principal, junior high principal, high school principal, special education administrator and classroom teacher in grades K鈥12.

In his new role, Cash will also become governance chair of the Educational Leadership doctoral program, taking over for Professor Julie Slayton.

In early 2019, 海角论坛鈥檚 Dean鈥檚 Superintendents Advisory Group inducted Cash into the organization鈥檚 Hall of Fame. In his 28 years in education, Cash 鈥渉as demonstrated success in improving student achievement while at the same time fostering an education culture that values diverse opportunities for students to learn and thrive,鈥 said Dean Karen Symms Gallagher, the Emery Stoops and Joyce King Stoops Dean of 海角论坛.
