Incorporating the six engineering habits of mind in the classroom

Engineering habits of mind is a concept based on the premise that engineers often make things work, or work better鈥攁nd they rely on common methods to help them. Anthony Maddox, a professor of clinical education and engineering, says he tries to integrate the six engineering habits of mind (first identified by the National Academy of Engineering)鈥攕ystems thinking, creativity, optimism, collaboration, communication and ethical consideration 鈥 into every teaching endeavor.
