Bio

Before coming to USC, Reina Kang taught kindergarten for three years in a dual-language school in Oakland, CA. Her experiences as a teacher profoundly shaped her desire to improve access and quality of social-emotional learning for minoritized youth. 

Reina Kang is a Ph.D. student in Education with a concentration in Educational Psychology at the University of Southern California, where she is mentored by Dr. Brendesha Tynes. She also serves as a research assistant at the Center for Empowered Learning and Development with Technology. Reina holds a Master of Science in Education Studies from Johns Hopkins University, a teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
